Born But Not Here

A POETRY COLLECTION ON DEALING

WITH THE LOSS OF A CHILD

Born But Not Here by Tierra Lynch candidly uncovers the emotional journey of a mother who has suffered an immeasurable loss. Lynch navigates through the five stages of grief: from disbelief and devastation to overwhelming sorrow, crisis of faith, and ultimately attempting to find meaning in life following the loss of her son Jalen.

By confronting feelings of guilt and inadequacy, she manages to draw on strength from her loved ones while embracing the power of prayer. Lynch's collection of poems speaks to the power of healing through self-expression, and this short read offers a glimmer of hope for those who are in the midst of their own grief journey.

Born But Not Here is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and it’s a beautiful tribute to the precious lives that were lost too soon.

No matter where a person is in the five stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance – Born But Not Here helps others see they are not alone in the raw emotions of the journey, but with time and patience, the stages of grief can be defeated.

The nurses and doctors called him stillborn

What a crazy word

I didn’t miscarry you

I didn’t abort you

I didn’t try to prevent you from happening

I carried you for nine whole months

I birthed you

You were born

Yet you were not here

-Excerpt from “Jalen”, Born But Not Here

I still do not fully understand why Jalen wasn’t able to live here on Earth, but I believe that he served a purpose. I pray that one day God will reveal that purpose to me.
